The area known as Koreatown consists of around 2.7 square miles located just west of downtown L.A. It has been named the “best Koreatown outside of Korea” despite the fact that only about 20% of its population is Korean. The city has a walkscore of 91, and is considered the 5th most walkable neighborhood within the city of Los Angeles.
Several notable locations serve as a central hub for those who live and work in Koreatown. One such location is Chapman Park Market, which was originally designed to provide one-stop shopping for groceries and dry goods. These days, it also houses several restaurants and cafes in addition to its numerous shopping venues. GQ Magazine has referred to Koreatown as one of the coolest neighborhoods anywhere in Los Angeles because of its “number of thrilling bars and restaurants”.
